19 Jan, SFB1258 Colloquy with Carlos Peña Garay and Andreas Leonhardt

Welcome to our final SFB1258 Colloquy of the winter term 2025/26, held at the MPP Main Auditorium.

9:30 Welcome & Coffee

10:00 Carlos Peña Garay (LSC Canfranc): On discovering expected neutrino signals
After the discovery of neutrino masses by the neutrino oscillation experiments, next frontiers are the discovery of CP violation on the lepton sector, the Majorana nature of neutrinos and the discovery of cosmological neutrinos. I will discuss the current status of the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment, with special focus on the Spanish contributions to the construction of the gigantic detector. I will also discuss the physics potential and challenges in the discovery of neutrinoless double decay and in the observation of cosmological neutrinos.

10:45 Coffee break

11:15 Andreas Leonhardt (TUM): Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay: From N01 to LEGEND-1000

12:15 End

Venue: Max Planck Institute for Physics, Main Auditorium, Boltzmanstr. 8, Garching-Forschungszentrum
