18 Jan, 10:30, Colloquy (zoom-only) on KATRIN with Christoph Wiesinger

We would like to invite you to the fourth SFB colloquy of WS 2021/22 on Tuesday, 18 January 2022. The colloquy will be a zoom-only event, exceptionally starting at 10:30.

Speaker: Christoph Wiesinger (MPP)
Title: The latest result of KATRIN and beyond
Abstract: The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (KATRIN) experiment probes the effective electron anti-neutrino mass by a precision measurement of the tritium beta-decay spectrum near the endpoint. A world-leading upper limit of 0.8 eV (90 % CL) has been set with the first two measurement campaigns. New operational conditions for an improved signal-to-background ratio, the reduction of systematic uncertainties and a substantial increase in statistics allow to expand this reach. The latest result and performance figures of the recently collected data will be presented in this talk.

Zoom details:
Time: 18.Jan..2022 10:30 AM Amsterdam, Berlin, Rom, Stockholm, Wien
